My cherry tree in glorious bloom

Today my cherry tree is in glorious bloom! I don't even have to stomp the "rides" on my failing hip; but just step out the back door to surprise: cherry blossoms exploding with their pink & white beauty.

From youth, nature and poetry have schooled us in the transitory == even looking at the blooms I already regret their
passing. Tomorrow perhaps the cherry tree's' "snow" will be drifting on the ground.

But today, today it blooms!


LOVELIEST of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.

Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.
